Vintage Lion Crochet Pattern

Create your own vintage-style crochet lion toy with this original, human-made amigurumi pattern from Made by Phia. Inspired by a lion my Auntie M loved to crochet in the 1980s, this is my own modern take on a nostalgic family favorite.

The pattern includes written instructions, reference photos to help with the lion's fringe, a visual guide for cutting the felt face and paws, and links to video tutorials for select techniques. Photos are provided for specific details rather than for every step of the pattern.

The finished lion makes a thoughtful handmade gift for children, vintage toy lovers, or anyone who appreciates the charm of a handmade plush.

MATERIALS NEEDED

• Gold worsted weight (4) yarn
• Rust or red worsted weight (4) yarn
• Crochet hook
• Stitch marker
• Tapestry needle and scissors
• Black, white, and red felt
• Polyester fiberfill
• Fabric glue
• White paint pen for tracing felt pieces (optional)

SKILL LEVEL & TIPS

This pattern uses common crochet stitches, including single crochet, half double crochet, double crochet, triple crochet, magic circle, increases and invisible decreases. Helpful video tutorials are included for select techniques if you need a refresher.

The pieces are worked in continuous spiral rounds, so a stitch marker is important for keeping track of the beginning of each round.
